Your immune system
How does your immune system work?
Everyday, your body produces around 1000 million white blood cells. There are two types of white blood cells, T and B. T cells travel through your body looking for germs, once found, they attack and kill them. When you get sick, B cells make antibodies. Antibodies go around to attach and mark the intruding germs and virus for destruction. MHC molecules also go around marking foreign intruders. Macrophages and neutrophils are a subset of white blood cells. They travel around the body looking for foreign antigens (like bacteria) and engulf (eat) them. Cytokines and chemokines also work with T cells, they will alert the rest of the immune system if the find activated spot.
